What is the Asian tiger mosquito and how dangerous can it be?

Recently, the Asian tiger mosquito has spread to many areas. It is particularly aggressive and acts mainly during the day. Its sting causes swelling. It usually attacks the knees and ankles. Apart from humans’ it can be fed with pets’ and birds’ blood. It is considered a vector of many serious diseases that can be fatal to humans and animals, such as dengue haemorrhagic fever, yellow fever, Chikungunya disease, Japanese encephalitis, West Nile fever.
